Pink Football 2005 Recipient - Toni Mimms

Once diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2005, Mimms never let her strength falter. From the moment she was discovered she was sick, she immediately began looking at her options. She was given two options, removal of the cancerous tissue and some lymph nodes, as well as six weeks of chemo-therapy, or complete removal of the infected area. Mimms quickly responded by asking for complete removal of her breast. With concern from her family, Mimms could only respond with this, “…the ‘girls’ have done their tour of duty and if it’s time for retirement then its okay.” Her surgery date was set for June 29, 2005.

Mimms has also coined and trademarked the phrase “Get That Squeeze and Put Your Mind at Ease.” Corresponding t-shirts promote the importance of mammograms and self-examinations.
